I have been a qualified member of the Guild of Photographers ( www.photoguild.co.uk ) for 3 years now.
The Guild run national competitions each month, and as well as being good fun to enter alongside other passionate photographers, it’s a great way of personally challenging yourself and constantly trying to improve. It’s been very exciting to see that I have achieved a steady level of Bronzes with my photographs entered. This is great because it shows me that there is room to improve and still a lot to learn!
Also being a member of the Chalfonts and Gerrards Cross Camera Club (http://www.chalfontsandgerrardscrosscameraclub.org.uk ) has been an exciting journey for me, learning so much from really knowledgeable enthusiasts and entering their competitions.
Last year I won the Digital Image of the year for the black and white misty picture with my dog Whisky. (He was very pleased too!)
I spend quite a lot of my time reading and learning about photography and a great place to start with this is The iPhone Photography School ( www.iphonephotographyschool.com ). They share so much information on their site all for free and featured 2 of my silhouette images in their top 100 pictures of 2018 – A huge accolade as the standard is so high!
Here is a selection of my favourite award-winning photographs. Hopefully, these will inspire you to get your camera out and start playing!
